Carissa Kasper is a writer and gardener specializing in vegetables and fruits, with experience gained as Lead Gardener for LifeSpace Gardens in North Vancouver and through leading a Cree community gardens project for Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre in Saskatchewan. She has worked in private residences, employee wellness, restaurant, community and learning gardens in Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, West Vancouver and North Battleford. Carissa has studied gardening in the University of Saskatchewan’s Master Gardener program and Kwantlen University’s horticulture department.
Carissa is deeply grateful to be working with land on Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh territories. She works to harvest a deeper understanding of what it means to farm within a context of colonization and to support Indigenous food stewardship and revival.
Carissa teaches at workshops, nurseries, businesses, backyards, webinars and private parties. She wrote, developed and featured in a series of 1-minute veggie garden tutorials at ProjectGarden.ca. She is currently at work on a Botanical Balcony Design activity book.
